The Carroll County Sheriff's Office is investigating the malicious destruction of property after an Eldersburg home was shot at five times Monday, Sheriff's Office spokesman Cpl. Jonathan Light said.
Deputies responded to the home in the 800 block of Caren Drive just after 8 p.m. Monday to find that two windows had been shot a combined five times, according to Maj. Charles Rapp, of the Sheriff's Office.
The homeowner, David Webb, told investigators that he discovered the damage at about 4:30 p.m. when he arrived home after being gone for the day. No one was in the home during the incident, and therefore there were no injuries, Rapp said.
Although Rapp said police are unsure as to why the incident occurred, he assumes that it was kids in the area who were using a pellet gun and fired erroneously.
Laura Webb, one of the homeowners, said that despite a police assertion that the shots were fired by a pellet gun, she believes otherwise.
