Two men arrested for allegedly stealing baby formula

Two men are facing theft charges after allegedly stealing $1,435.98 worth of baby formula during six separate incidents at the Eldersburg Walmart.

Byron Jerome Miller, 47, of the 3000 block of Joanne Drive in Windsor Mill, is charged with six counts of theft less than $1,000, one count of theft scheme less than $1,000, and one count of theme scheme between $1,000 and $10,000, according to electronic court records.

David Tyrone Johnson, 49, of the 6000 block of Fox Meadow Road in Gwynn Oak, is also charged with six counts of theft less than $1,000, one count of theft scheme less than $1000, and one count of theme scheme between $1,000 and $10,000, according to electronic court records.

A Carroll County Sheriff's Office deputy responded to the Eldersburg Walmart on Feb. 20 for a report of a shoplifting in progress. A Walmart employee pointed out a vehicle with the suspects inside and told the deputy that the suspects had stolen formula multiple times, according to the charging documents.

The deputy detained Miller and Johnson. Another deputy conducted a frisk of Johnson for weapons and located four cans of Similac baby formula on his person. After a vehicle search, deputies located 12 more cans of Similac, according to the charging documents.

Deputies reviewed the Walmart's security cameras and observed Miller and Johnson also stealing baby formula on Feb. 6, Feb. 8, Feb. 13, Feb. 16 and Feb. 19, according to charging documents.

According to electronic court records, Miller posted $5,000 bond and was released. Johnson was being held on $25,000 bond. They are scheduled to appear in court on May 9.
