The investigation into the death of a 2-month-old Westminster boy is ongoing and a report from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner could take up to two months.

The infant was taken to the hospital by his mother Sunday morning when he was declared dead, according to a news release from the Maryland State Police.

The medical examiner's officer in Baltimore is conducting an investigation, which was still pending Thursday, according to a spokeswoman.

It is too soon to determine the cause and manner of death, according to the spokeswoman, and investigations could take as long as six to eight weeks to complete their work.

The Maryland State Police Homicide Unit is leading the investigation, though that fact does not necessarily indicate foul play is involved, according to police.
