A Westminster man is charged with first- and second-degree assault for allegedly punching a woman in the head during an argument.
Jamal Deshawn Harris, 22, of the 400 block of Antero Drive, is being held at the Carroll County Detention Center on $25,000 bond, according to electronic court files.
A Westminster police officer met with a family member of the alleged victim around noon Tuesday at the Westminster Police Department and learned that the victim was at Carroll Hospital being treated for injuries from an assault, according to charging documents.
The officer met with the victim at the hospital, and she said Harris began arguing with her early that morning and hit her repeatedly in the head, according to the documents.
Police went to Harris' residence and he was taken into custody and transported to the detention center's central booking unit, according to the documents.
