Police arrested three people on drunk driving charges at a sobriety checkpoint in Hampstead Friday night and state troopers responded to at least two alcohol-related collisions over the weekend.

Members of the Carroll County Sheriff's Office, Maryland State Police, and officers from the five municipal departments conducted the checkpoint between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. in the 2200 block of Hanover Pike in Hampstead, according to a news release. The location of the checkpoint was not disclosed in advance.

A fourth person was arrested on charges of possession of drugs, according to the release.

Statewide, troopers from the Maryland State Police investigated 12 collisions involving suspected drunk drivers throughout the weekend, according to a news release. Two of those collisions occurred in Carroll County.

At 8:16 p.m. on Saturday, troopers responded to a hit-and-run crash at the intersection of Md. 140 and Malcolm Drive, according to the release. The at-fault vehicle was located and the driver was arrested.

After midnight Sunday, troopers investigated a vehicle that drove off the roadway and struck a parked vehicle in the 1900 block of Ridge Road in Taylorsville, according to the release. The driver was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.
