Finksburg barricade situation ends peacefully with teen in custody

A barricade situation in Finksburg ended Friday morning with a teen in police custody.

Maryland State Police troopers and Carroll County Sheriff's Office deputies were called to the 2900 block of Baltimore Boulevard at about 7:30 a.m. for a report made by the father of a 17-year-old boy threatening to harm himself and others, according to MSP Sgt. Jeff Shipley.

"It was a young man that threatened to kill himself and kill the first policeman who came through the door," Shipley said.

Shipley declined to provide the teen's name because of his age.

Law enforcement officers were able to talk the teen out of the house, Shipley said, and he was transported to Carroll Hospital for evaluation.

The standoff lasted nearly two hours, Shipley said, and closed down Md. 140 for about a half hour.
