A Westminster man was arrested Tuesday after he allegedly assaulted a woman in May.
Michael Howard Bailey, 28, of the 200 block of Gallatin Court, was charged with one count of first-degree assault. He was initially held without bail, but that was changed to $50,000 bail after a bail review Wednesday, according to electronic court records.
According to an application for charges filed by the victim, Bailey asked the victim to sleep with him on May 6, and when she refused, he told her to get out of his house.
The victim began to gather her things from a bathroom to leave when Bailey came into the bathroom and grabbed her hair, dragged her across the floor and banged her head before throwing her on the bed, according to the application.
Bailey held the woman on the bed before holding a knife to her throat and threatening to kill her and her family, according to the application.
At one point, Bailey got off the woman, and then she started to pick up her items. Officers with the Westminster Police Department came to the residence to remove Bailey but did not arrest him at that time, according the application.
The victim allegedly told the officers that she did not want to file charges but wanted to leave the residence, according to the application.
A preliminary court date has been set for Bailey on July 20.
