Fire Marshal investigating possible attempted arson in Mount Airy

The Office of the State Fire Marshal is investigating a possible case of attempted arson in Mount Airy.

According to a notice of investigation, unknown individuals lit combustibles in a shed in the 4500 block of Hickory Lane. The fire burned out before it damaged the shed, but it reportedly caused $300 worth of damage to the shed's contents.

The owner of the shed spotted the fire at about 10:55 a.m. Friday, according to the notice.

No fire companies responded, but the Carroll County Sheriff's Office responded after being notified. After initial observations, the responding deputies requested that the fire marshal investigate.

No arrests were made as of 3:30 p.m. Friday, according to the release. Anyone with information is asked to call the Office of the State Fire Marshal at 410-836-4844.
