Hampstead man pleads guilty to federal child porn charges

A Hampstead man is scheduled to be sentenced in July after he pleaded guilty Monday in federal court in Baltimore to distribution and possession of child pornography.

Michael Eugene Aldridge, 42, covertly took videos of underage female victims, including while they were undressing, and produced and distributed child pornography, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney's Office in Baltimore.

On June 26, 2014, Aldridge's home was searched and he admitted to viewing and distributing child pornography, according to the release, and a search of Aldridge's email account and cell phone found child pornography images.

Aldridge faces a mandatory five-year minimum sentence and up to 20 years for distribution of child pornography, according to the release. He faces up to 10 years in prison for possession of child pornography.

A sentencing hearing is scheduled for July 28 in the U.S. District Court in Baltimore.

Aldridge served 30 days in jail in 2002 after being convicted in Carroll County District court of peeping Tom charges, according to electronic court files.

Aldridge's attorney, Joseph Murtha, could not be reached for comment Monday.
