A Westminster man was charged with assault after he allegedly attacked a woman when he could not find his vape Monday.
Stephen Louis Evans, 39, of the 700 block of Norfield Court, was charged with first-degree assault, a felony, and second-degree assault. He was held in default of $7,000 bail as of Tuesday morning, according to online court records.
According to the statement of probable cause, Evans grew angry when he could not find his vape and accused the woman of “doing something” with it. Evans said he would “rip this place apart,” the victim told Westminster police, who arrived to Norfield Court at about 7:05 p.m., according to the statement.
The woman told Evans to stop and leave, then he “picked her up by her neck and threw her to the ground,” leaving her with “visible signs of injury,” according to the statement. The victim told police that Evans did this three times, according to the statement.
Evans admitted to police that the two fought and he had “an abrasion on his neck, which appeared to be a defensive wound,” according to the statement. The victim refused to be taken to the hospital, according to the statement.
Evans was arrested and taken to central booking without incident, according to the statement.
No attorney was listed for Evans in online court records. A hearing for bail bond review was scheduled for Wednesday.
