A suspect is in custody following a series of thefts from automobiles in the Roberts Field neighborhood of Hampstead from Wednesday night into early Thursday morning. Police are working to return items to their owners.

Chief David Snyder said most of the items had been taken from unlocked vehicles, and there was so far no report of forced entry.

One suspect is in custody awaiting charges as police work to determine how many people were affected and the extent of the alleged thefts. Snyder said they believe the individual to be the only suspect in this case.

Snyder reminded residents to lock their vehicles and to call police if they witness suspicious behavior. Police were alerted to the incident Thursday morning by an alert citizen, he said.

Several items were recovered including sunglasses, small electronics and a wallet.

Those who believe they may have been victims of theft should contact Officer Cranshaw or Officer Thorn via the Hampstead Police Department at 410-239-8954.
