A Westminster man was arrested Wednesday after a law enforcement investigation confirmed that he viewed and redistributed child pornography on his Tumblr account, police say.
Andrew James Reuschlein, 19, of the 500 block of Rich Mar Street, is charged with four counts of possession of child pornography and four counts of promoting or distributing child pornography, according to electronic court records. He was released on a $10,000 bail bond from the Carroll County Detention Center, court records show.
A cyber tip reported by Tumblr in November to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children led to a month-long investigation by the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, which led to Reuschlein’s arrest Wednesday, according to a police-authored statement of probable cause.
The tip referred to an account with the username “uxderagedperv” on the blog website, the statement details.
Sheriff’s deputes obtained samples of the blog’s content from Tumblr, police wrote. The content, according to the statement, featured explicit sexual acts performed on or by children as young as toddlers.
According to the statement, deputes were able to trace the internet IP address to Reuschlein’s residence and subsequently performed a search warrant.
Deputes retrieved various electronic devices that will be forensically examined, the statement details. Reuschlein was at the residence when the warrant was served, deputies wrote.
While being interviewed by the deputes, the 19-year-old said he reblogged — saved content to his blog for others to see it — child pornography on Tumblr and knew that his actions were illegal, the statement details.
