Westminster police officers and Carroll County Sheriff’s Office deputes responded to an address in the city Thursday evening after receiving a report of a man trying to break into a woman’s residence, according to the police-authored statement of probable cause.
Officers and deputes found Johnson in the street near the residence, the statement details. A deputy entered the residence to find a woman, bruised and cut, on the sofa, police wrote.
The woman told police that Johnson punched her in the head repeatedly, choked her, struck her in the face, stabbed her in the thigh with a kitchen knife and struck her in the face with a vodka bottle, the statement details.
Deputes wrote that they saw a one-inch stab wound on her thigh, a two-inch cut on her forehead, swelling around both eyes sockets and redness on her left jawbone.
After deputes took Johnson to the Carroll County Detention Center, deputes found a sliding razor knife and two 38-caliber handgun rounds in his pant pockets, the statement details. Johnson denied having anything that would be considered illegal in jail to deputes, court records show.
