A Sykesville man was arrested Monday after he allegedly stole a blue Honda CRV from a Target parking lot in Westminster last week.
Michael Aaron Dickinson, 28, of the 7000 block of Village Road, was charged with unlawfully taking a motor vehicle, theft between $1,500 and $25,000 and rogue and vagabond. Following a Tuesday morning bail review, he was held without bond, according to electronic court records.
According to the statement of charges, a man reported his Honda was stolen from the Target parking lot last Wednesday. A detective, who had reviewed video footage of the incident, was able to identify Dickinson while they were serving an arrest warrant for a different incident, the statement read.
Dickinson admitted to entering Target to get a drink of water, but denied stealing the car, according to the statement. He told police “someone told [him]” it was parked close to the Wendy’s near Giant and Staples.
The owner was notified, and he retrieved the car, the statement read.
Westminster Police Department responded to that incident.
In a separate incident, the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office responded to Carroll Hospital for a case of rogue and vagabond after a man had attempted to get into vehicles, according to a statement of probable cause. An officer spoke to the suspect, and identified him as Dickinson, the statement read.
