A Virginia man was arrested Tuesday after he allegedly harassed a Carroll individuals by posting nude images of an individual and their home address.
Jonathan W. Meyer, 18, was charged with electronic mail harassment, harassment—a course of conduct and harassment—revenge porn. He was released on $2,500 bail, according to electronic court records.
According to the statement of charges, the Maryland State Police began assisting with a case on March 26, 2018. A Carroll woman had previously reported phone harassment and nonstop calls from Meyers as well as threats to harm himself. He threatened to post her information online. The woman told him to stop contacting her multiple times, but the threats continued.
Meyers hacked into a Snapchat account belonging to the woman and began sending nude photos to her family and friends, the woman told police. He also created fake accounts on online websites to send images as well as the woman’s address, name and information about her child to strangers, according to the statement.
The woman and additional witnesses provided screenshots. Subpoenas of information related to the profiles determined that they were linked to an IP address located in Virginia and Meyers’ phone number, according to the statement.
The number also appeared in a Virginia case of cyberbullying/ harassment in which Meyers was the suspect, according to the statement.
A call to the number on record for Myers could not be completed. A court date is scheduled for Dec. 12.
