Fire Marshal investigating mailbox explosion near Finksburg

The Office of the State Fire Marshal is investigating an explosion that went off in a mailbox in the 2500 block of Hollingsworth Road.

No injuries were reported as a result of the explosion. The cause is still under investigation, according to a notice of investigation.

The explosion occurred around midnight Saturday, Feb. 23, and was discovered at about 9 a.m. the next morning by a neighbor, according to the notice.

The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office received the call for service. The estimated cost of the damage is $125.
