A Westminster man was charged May 16 after he allegedly attacked a woman and threatened to kill her.
Ricky Lee Lefler, 56, of the 600 block of Windy Hills Drive, was charged with one count each of first- and second-degree assault as well as false imprisonment. He was released on $2,500 unsecured personal bond on May 21, according to electronic court records.
According to the statement of charges, a woman called police on the morning of May 16 with complaints that Lefler had thrown a lamp at her and broken a picture frame on her head, and then later stated that he was going to kill her and then himself. In the report, the woman told police he would not let her leave the house or call police and she only was able to get help when he left the room.
The woman was observed by police with small cuts on her nose and Emergency Medical Services brought her to Carroll Hospital.
When police responded to the residence on May 16, Lefler was not there, but they could see the broken lamp through a window. Lefler was reached by phone by police and confirmed that there had been an altercation at the residence and he was going to an undisclosed address in Virginia. He later turned off his phone and was unavailable to give a statement to police.
He was in custody two days later.
Lefler could not be reached by phone for comment. He has a preliminary hearing scheduled for June 13, according to electronic court records.
