A Westminster man has been charged in relation to false imprisonment and assault, police said.
Jacob Anthony Demario, 31, of the 700 block of Johahn Drive, has been charged with false imprisonment, first-degree assault and second-degree assault, according to electronic court records. He was held without bail following a Thursday, Dec. 20, bail review.
According to the statement of charges, members of the Westminster Police Department responded to a residence on Saturday, Dec. 15.
They spoke to a woman who said she and Demario entered into an argument. When he began chasing her aggressively, she attempted to exit the residence, but she found that a piece of wood was blocking the door, she told police.
Demario then became physically aggressive, she said, and pushed her down. He pushed on her chest and she felt like she could not breathe and was going to pass out, she said, according to the statement.
He continued to push until a child at the residence intervened. The woman and child again attempted to leave, but Demario grabbed the child, she said. They were not able to escape until later when Demario was distracted, she said, according to the statement.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 16.
