An Anne Arundel County man is facing 19 charges, including seven felony rape charges, related to alleged incidents over the course of several months with a then-13-year-old girl in Mount Airy.
William Nicholas Downing, 22, of Pasadena, is charged with one count of first-degree rape and six counts of second-degree rape, as well as 12 misdemeanors that include second-degree assault, perverted practice and possession of child pornography, according to electronic court records.
Downing was arrested Monday and released on his own recognizance after a Tuesday bail review.
According to charging documents, Downing had oral and/or vaginal intercourse with the 13-year-old at a house or in his car on at least six occasions in Mount Airy from July 10 to Oct. 9 of last year. The minor described each of the six incidents in some detail but noted she could not remember everything that had happened or whether there had been more.
The alleged incidents were subsequently reported and child protective services began an investigation. A warrant was issued for Downing’s arrest on Dec. 21.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 3 in Carroll County District Court.
No phone number was listed for Downing in charging documents. Baltimore attorney Richard Altmark is listed in electronic court records as representing Downing. A message seeking comment was left with Altmark’s office Friday afternoon.
