A Taneytown man is charged with assault after allegedly hitting two women and allegedly choking one of them.

David James Few, 24, of the 3900 block of Diehl Road, is charged with one count each of second-degree assault and violating a protective order, according to electronic court records.

Taneytown police met with two women Monday at around 6:20 p.m. who each said Few had struck them, according to charging documents, and one woman told police she ripped Few’s shirt during an altercation around 5:30 p.m. that evening.

One of the women alleged that Few had choked her until she almost lost consciousness and then began slapping her and that she punched him back, according to charging documents.

Few told police that the two women had attacked him, throwing things at him and one of them cutting him with an unknown to him sharp object, according to charging documents.

Police noted in the charging documents that they could find no weapon on the scene, but that Few did have cuts on his chest and arms when they spoke with him, according to charging documents.

Few was arrested and taken to Carroll County Central Booking on Monday and then released Tuesday after posting $2,500 in bail, according to electronic court records. A trial is schedule for 8:45 a.m. on June 12, in Carroll County District Court.

When reached by phone for a comment, Few said that the woman that alleged he had choked her, had herself started an altercation by yelling at him with increasing intensity Monday, in a home on George Street, Taneytown.

“She started getting more verbal with me, started getting louder and louder and then she started getting physical with me,” Few said. “At that point, I had to defend myself.”

Few said he tried to push the woman out of the home and that she grabbed his phone, threw it and broke it. Few then grabbed the woman’s phone and called the second woman, the one who allegedly ripped his shirt according to the charging documents, to come pick up the woman he was trying to push out of the home.

The second woman arrived and also allegedly assaulted Few.

“They ended up leaving,” he said. “The cops came and of course I got arrested.”
