A Hampstead woman has been charged in relation to an alleged assault after a Sept. 23 incident.
Cynthia Lee Sharp, of the 3900 block of Shiloh Ave., was charged with second-degree assault. She posted a $1,000 unsecured personal bond on Sunday, Sept. 23, according to electronic court records.
A deputy of the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office responded to a Hampstead residence Sunday. A man said that during an argument, Sharp had scratched the side of his face, causing it to bleed. The deputy observed scratches to the side of his face that were bleeding.
The deputy then spoke to Sharp, who said the man had punched her during the argument and that she did not scratch the man. The deputy did not observe any injury to her, according to the statement.
When reached by phone for comment, Sharp said she did not mean to scratch the man. He did not want charges to be pressed against her and asked police not to arrest her at the time of the incident, she said.
“It was just a split second, and that was all it took,” she said. “There’s no animosity, there’s nothing going on between us except that he feels like an idiot and I do, too.”
A court date is scheduled for Dec. 5.
