A pedestrian was struck and killed by a car Saturday morning in Taneytown. The driver of the vehicle drove away, and a suspect was later arrested, police said.
The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office did not identify the pedestrian Sunday morning. The Sheriff’s Office asked the public’s help in identifying a Chevrolet Traverse that the suspect was driving around 9:40 a.m. Saturday in the area of Trevanion Road and Otterdale Mill Road. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
Sheriff deputies arrested a suspect on Saturday afternoon and charged him with manslaughter. He is being held at the Carroll County Detention Center.
The Sheriff’s Office used tips from the public and help from the Maryland State Police and Taneytown Police to locate and arrest the suspect, according to the office. Sheriff deputies are still investigating the collision and ask anyone with information to call 410-386-5900 or email Corporal Michael Prushinski at firstname.lastname@example.org.
