McDaniel College announces Gregory L. Dumont as the new chief information officer and John Rouse as the new director of Student Academic Support Services.
Dumont previously served as associate director of Information Technology at Central Michigan University, where he worked closely with faculty and support teams to advance innovative and effective application of technology to the academic mission. At CMU, he also served as chair of a multi-disciplinary committee focused on strategic planning and the application of institutional online learning. Dumont was also responsible for disaster recovery planning for all core systems.
Dumont has also held leadership positions in higher education technology at Tufts University, the University of Michigan and Northwestern University. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa in History from Northwestern University and earned an Master of Science degree in Information Science at the University of Michigan in 1998. He also completed his doctorate in Educational Leadership and Administration at Central Michigan in 2011.
As director of Student Academic Support Services, Rouse leads and oversees efforts to support students with disabilities at McDaniel. The SASS office is tasked with providing appropriate accommodations, services, programs and training in order to create an accessible community where people are judged on their ability, not their disability.
Rouse most recently served as acting co-director of the Office of Disability Services at Syracuse University where he started as a counselor in 2005. After graduating from McDaniel, he worked as a special education/learning disability teacher at the Chelsea School in Silver Spring.
An alumnus of McDaniel, he earned both a bachelor's degree in exercise science and physical education in 2000 and a master's degree in counselor education in 2003 from the college.
