Carroll County Public Schools will sponsor a Transition Fair from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 10 at Carroll Community College, 1601 Washington Road, Westminster. The fair is designed for high school students in grades 10-12 who have Individualized Educational Plans/504 Plans and their families.
Parents and students will have the opportunity to attend a number of breakout sessions, with topics including employment and training opportunities, becoming your own self-advocate, preparing for college, resource coordination, government benefits, and more.
The featured speaker will be Tori Saylor, whose life changed forever when she was diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome at the age of 19. During the speech, "My Journey to Self-Determination," Saylor will discuss her journey from childhood to self-determined adulthood and relive the significant milestones. The speech is scheduled to take place from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m.
