Members of the Winfield Community Volunteer Fire Department will go house-to-house Saturday morning, Feb. 2, offering free smoke alarm checks.

They’ll canvas the area along Ridge Road between Md. 26 and Sams Creek Road from 10:30 a.m. to noon.

The neighborhood program is in response to a house fire that occurred this week in the 3900 block of Ridge Road, according to a news release from the fire company.

If residents are not available Saturday, they can call the fire company at 410-795-1333, ext. 336, to make a request for a smoke alarm check.

Anyone throughout the Winfield community wishing to have their smoke alarms checked can contact the department via Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or by calling 410-795-1333, ext. 336.
