Westminster police offering reward for information about fatal stabbing

The Westminster Police Department is looking for help in its investigation of an Oct. 24 stabbing that resulted in the death of a 23-year-old man.

Westminster police identified the victim as Devin G. Raney of Baltimore County in a news release the day after the incident, noting that officers responded to a report of a fight in progress near the intersection of South Bishop Street and Carroll View Avenue at approximately 9:24 p.m., and that the involved individuals left the scene as police arrived.

Shortly thereafter, according to the release, officers located an adult male with facial injuries driving on Bishop Street who told police he had driven Raney to Carroll Hospital. Hospital personnel subsequently contacted the Westminster Police Department and advised that Raney had walked into its emergency room with a stab wound to his chest. He was flown to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, where he died of his injuries.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a dispute between neighbors that became physical in nature had occurred.

According to a Saturday morning news release from the Westminster Police Department, anyone providing information about this incident that results in an arrest and conviction may receive up to a $1,000 reward.
