The Westminster Senior and Community Center was closed today due to emergency maintenance needs, after a pipe burst following recent frigid temperatures.
“One of our sprinkler pipes burst which required the water main to the building to be shut down until the repair is complete,” Celene Steckel, chief of the Bureau of Aging & Disabilities, wrote in an email to the Times.
The bureau will re-evaluate Thursday morning whether the Westminster senior center, located at 125 Stoner Avenue, will remain closed tomorrow.
“We are hopeful to be up and running tomorrow,” Steckel said.
Residents are invited to participate in activities in any of the other four senior centers: Mount Airy, North Carroll, South Carroll and Taneytown.
