Westminster holds training session for historic tax credits

Some Westminster home and property owners, those whose property falls within the Westminster National Register District, could be eligible for special federal, state and local tax credits.

To help those property owners learn if they are eligible, and how to apply for those credits, a special training session will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Westminster branch of the Carroll County Public Library, 50 E. Main St.

The event is sponsored by the Westminster Historic District Commission in conjunction with the Maryland Historical Trust. Trust representatives will be on hand to offer additional information about the Maryland Heritage Structure Rehabilitation Tax Credit Program, which could also benefit property owners.

The Westminster National Register District comprises much of the core of the city, a map of which can be found online at westminstermd.gov/DocumentCenter/View/140.
