McDaniel College’s Asian Community Coalition student organization will host its annual Taste of Asia cultural dinner Thursday, Feb. 22. Guests can learn about Asian culture, enjoy performances and sample Asian cuisine. The event is open to the public as well as McDaniel students, faculty and staff.
Student-produced performances include a zodiac skit that tells the story of how the Chinese zodiac animals came to get their order and a skit that discusses the modern aspects of Asian entertainment, specifically music and dance. In addition, Tai Yim’s Lion Dancers, members of Tai Yim’s Kung Fu School present the ancient lion dance, which is an integral part of Chinese and Southeast Asian cultures. The dinner is catered by Ying Thai Cuisine in Westminster.
The event is set for 6:30 p.m. in McDaniel’s Decker Center Forum. Cost is $15 and tickets must be purchased in advance by calling 410-857-2794 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
Comprehensive rezoning session
The last in a series of information sessions held in each district of the county will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, at the Mount Airy Senior Center, 703 Ridge Ave.
The meeting will discuss the Carroll County Department of Planning comprehensive rezoning project, which seeks to examine and eventually update how properties are classified and where different uses are allowed.
