Maryland State Police said a Taneytown man was killed Friday in a single-vehicle crash that ended in a pond near the intersection of Old Taneytown Road and Mayberry Road.
Police said Timothy O’Halloran Dunn, 27, was driving westbound on Old Taneytown Road when his vehicle left the roadway, struck a utility pole and came to rest in a pond along Mayberry Road.
Troopers responded at about 6:30 p.m. and found a Honda Accord upside down in the pond. A water rescue ensued, and police said fire and emergency medical personnel removed Dunn from the vehicle and started resuscitation efforts. He was transported to Carroll Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.
Personnel from Taneytown, Pleasant Valley, Union Bridge and Westminster volunteer fire companies were all part of the initial call in addition to Gamber, whose boat and dive team responded. Woodsboro’s boat was also called, and police said the MSP Aviation Division assisted as well.
