After a vehicle was swept off the roadway into a ditch in the 3500 block of Sams Creek Road, New Windsor volunteer fire company personnel responded.
The call went out at 5:50 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24 and the first crew arrived on scene at 5:56 p.m., said New Windsor Chief Tom Coe.
They found that a single car had floated off the roadway into a ditch. The driver had removed herself from the vehicle, but was still in the water.
The single occupant of the vehicle was assisted by EMS, but was not transported for medical care.
The scene was then turned over to Fredrick County officials because the incident occurred over the county line.
Other units called to assist New Windsor were cleared prior to their arrival.
Maryland Emergency Management Agency issued a flood warning for Carroll, Frederick, Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Harford and Howard counties; and Baltimore City just after 6:30 p.m. Saturday and in effect until 12:30 a.m. Sunday. The agency reported on Twitter that several water rescues took place in Central Maryland.
