Carroll County road and utilities projects for the week of April 1

The Carroll County Department of Public Works has 10 construction and utilities projects scheduled for work the week of April 1, 2019.

Drivers may experience traffic delays and flagging operations at any of the projects, county officials said in an email.


Contractors for the Bureau of Engineering projects continue work on the bridge replacement on Cape Horn Road in Hampstead, near Harvey Gummel Road.

Finksburg-based Kibler Construction Co. is doing the work, which includes removal of an existing structure and complete replacement, officials said. Detours are expected.

In Eldersburg, C.J. Miller, LLC, based in Hampstead, will be patching, milling and paving along Cherry Tree Lane and Sherry Drive.

Patching, milling and paving work along Cherry Tree runs the entire length, from Klees Mill Road to Bartholow Road. Milling and paving work will also extend to Sherry Drive, an offshoot of Cherry Tree Lane.

Jefferson-based Triangle Contracting, LLC, is scheduled to continue culvert work for the Bureau of Roads Operations Projects along Millers Station Road.

The Bureau of Utilities will be replacing water meters at MacBeth Way, Mineral Hill Road and Sussex Court, all in Sykesville, and reading water meters in Sykesville and Eldersburg.

Finksburg-based Highland Turf, Inc., is scheduled to replace bolts on water valves on Norris Avenue, Dominique Court, Kalorama Court, Gray Way, CaraCara Court and Hawkridge Drive, all in Sykesville.

Mid-Atlantic Utilities, based in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, is scheduled to do sewer installation work on Hoff Road and Green Valley Road, in Union Bridge.

And at Gaming Square, in Hampstead, the company is set to install a walking path and plant grass seed.
