The Office of the State Fire Marshal is investigating a one-alarm fire that occurred in Westminster early Friday morning.

The two-story, single-family dwelling on Union Street in Westminster triggered a smoke alarm, which alerted the occupants, the notice of investigation details.

Twenty Westminster fire company firefighters responded and controlled the blaze within five minutes, according to the notice.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time, though the notice says it originated from the rear exterior of the house.

There were no injuries reported and there was approximately $5,000 in damage to the structure, but none to its contents, per the notice.

The fire marshal’s office asks anyone with additional information to contact the Northeast Regional Office at 410-836-4844.
