A home in the 4300 block of Turkeyfoot Road was damaged after a fire Friday evening. The American Red Cross is assisting the family. No injuries to civilians or firefighters were reported.
Firefighters were called just before 6 p.m. Friday, May 11, and arrived to find a working house fire, Pleasant Valley Community Fire Company spokesman Charles Simpson said. A rapid intervention dispatch unit was called at 6:05 p.m. to provide additional equipment.
A total of 16 pieces of equipment from Adams County and York County, Pennsylvania, and Carroll responded, and about 35 firefighters actively worked the incident, Simpson said.
Smoke alarms in the home activated at the time of the incident, which primarily involved the area above the garage and the second story roof, causing damage to the second floor.
Simpson said there were no water supply problems on the scene. "They pretty much got things under control in a short period," he said.
