A 23-year-old man died after being stabbed in Westminster on Saturday night, according to the Westminster Police Department.
Westminster police identified the victim as Devin G. Raney of Baltimore County in a Sunday afternoon news release.
At approximately 9:24 p.m. Saturday, WPD officers responded to a report of a fight in progress at the intersection of South Bishop Street and Carroll View Avenue in Westminster. Involved individuals left the scene as police arrived.
Shortly thereafter, according to the release, officers located an adult male with facial injuries driving on Bishop Street. This man told police he had driven Raney to Carroll Hospital.
Hospital personnel subsequently contacted the Westminster Police Department, and advised that Raney had walked into its emergency room with a stab wound to his chest. He was flown to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, where he died of his injuries.
Preliminary investigation revealed that a dispute between neighbors occurred that became physical in nature, according to the release. The incident, being referred to as a homicide, remains under investigation.
The release did not address whether any arrests had been made. A Westminster police spokesperson reached Sunday afternoon said no other information was being released.
