The Carroll County Board of Commissioners on Thursday approved $4,282,862 in spending for road work and security upgrades.
The board OK’d spending $3,924,000 for a contract with Hampstead-based C.J. Miller LLC for hot mix asphalt paving. The amount is in the adopted budget, and additional funding was not necessary.
The board also approved a $358,862 contract with Eldersburg-based Marathon Technology Solutions to upgrade the access control system at the Court House Annex and the Historic Courthouse in Westminster.
The commissioners also approved accepting a $68,982 grant from the Administrative Office of the Courts to cover a portion of the costs.
The board deferred from making a decision on how to proceed with the Veterans Shuttle program, instead directing staff to conduct further research and operate under the status quo, at least for now. The shuttle program has a proposed fiscal year 2020 budget of $142,000.
