Prior to town officials in Union Bridge deciding whether to endorse a solar project, they will hear from citizens during a public hearing Thursday, June 21.
Town Attorney John Maguire said town officials have not yet formed an official position on the project.
The public hearing will be held at the Union Bridge Community Center, 4770 Ladiesburg Road, at 7 p.m. It is being held as a joint meeting between the Planning and Zoning Commission, and the mayor and Town Council.
Private company Citizens UB Solar LLC seeks to install a 9.9-megawatt solar array over their approximately 50-acre parcel of land in and around the town. Because of the land’s zoning, the company must seek a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity from the Maryland Public Service Commission. The commission will take into account the recommendation of the town.
