Carroll County sheriff's deputy's car sideswiped in hit-and-run accident

Police are looking for a vehicle that sideswiped a Carroll County sheriff’s deputy’s patrol vehicle Thursday in Woodbine and fled the scene of the accident.

Around 7:50 p.m., the deputy had parked the vehicle, with the emergency lights on, along the 6200 block of Woodbine Road to investigate a report of an injured deer, according to a Carroll County Sheriff’s Office media release.

While the deputy was outside of the vehicle, a dark-colored mini-van traveling south on Woodbine Road struck the patrol car along the driver’s side but failed to stop, continuing south on the roadway, according to the release.

The deputy was not injured in the accident, but the patrol car was so damaged it cannot be driven, according to the release, and the suspect’s vehicle is believed to have front-end damage from the collision.

The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office crash reconstruction team is investigating, and anyone with information about the accident or the suspect should call 410-386-5900.
