A fire in the RockSalt Grille carry out location shut down a portion of West Main Street Westminster on Oct. 5, 2018.
West Main Street in Westminster was shut down between Anchor and Bond streets for emergency vehicles Friday morning, as firefighters from six fire companies responded to a building fire at the RockSalt Grille carryout location.
“This morning at approximately 10:53 hours, we were dispatched to 65 W. Main St. for a report of a building fire in RockSalt Grille restaurant,” said Joshua Evans, a spokesman for the Westminster volunteer fire company. “While units were en route it was discovered the fire was not in the restaurant, but in the carryout they recently have occupied in the last couple of months.”
The small, white carryout location sits at the corner of Main and Bond streets, one building east of the RockSalt Grille dine-in location.
“Units arrived and found smoke conditions coming from the rear of the structure. They were able to find the fire and extinguish it within about 10 to 15 minutes,” Evans said. “Approximately 35 firefighters responded here today, from Westminster, Reese, Pleasant Valley, New Windsor, Hampstead and Taneytown.”
Around noon, Evans said BGE and the Carroll County Health Department were on the scene assisting, and the Office of the State Fire Marshal was still investigating the cause of the fire. There were no injuries reported.
