A vehicle with a single occupant crashed into a utility pole on Md. 97 on Thursday causing the pole to come down and outages in the Westminster area, according to officials.
Sgt. Todd Neill of Maryland State Police said the driver of the vehicle is OK after hitting a pole that came down across Littlestown Pike (Md. 97). He said it may have struck a residence but at the time police were not sure. He said the crash is still under investigation.
Nick Alexopulos, a spokesperson for Baltimore Gas and Electric, said early Thursday afternoon there were roughly 500 outages in the area “and we expect all of that service, all of it restored later this afternoon.”
He said if customers see downed powerlines they can report it by calling the 24-hour number 877-778-2222. They can also use the app or report it on the website.
