West Carroll: Christmas events coming up all around the area
Santa Claus made his visit to Terra Rubra Lions Club Activities building from on Dec. 16, 2017. There were 33 children who stopped by, accompanied by parents and grandparents. Pictured with Santa are Dacey and Sawyer Harbaugh with their mom, Dimitri Harbaugh. (Courtesy photo)

My family has been blessed in so many ways in 2018. Most importantly, we were blessed with enough. Enough warmth so we wouldn’t be cold, enough laughter to balance out the tears, and enough food so we wouldn’t go hungry.

I know for many there wasn’t enough. Finding warmth and enough to eat was a very real, day to day struggle. Whenever we went shopping, we always bought a little extra and took it to the “little free food pantry” located in front of Taneytown Elementary School. We felt good about sharing and making a difference.

When you make your Christmas list, consider adding a local food bank. Donate what you can, it just may make your heart “grow three sizes.” Local food banks for the West Carroll area include St. Paul United Methodist Church, 200 Main St., New Windsor, open Wednesday 5:30 to 7 p.m, Food Pantry and Carpenters Table held every Thursday at St Joseph’s Church, 44 Frederick Street, Taneytown, and St. James Lutheran Church, 14 S. Benedum St. Union Bridge.

Wednesday, Dec. 12, expect Santa to tour down Atlee Ridge, Hallowell Lane, Clear Ridge Road, and the Uniontown area. Wednesday, Dec. 19, Santa will visit one last time. Watch for him in the town of New Windsor, Blue Ridge Manor, Springdale Village, and The Reserves at New Windsor.
