Lions Club to hold free hearing screenings at Taneytown library

The Taneytown branch of the Carroll County Public Library will be the site of free hearing screenings on Friday, Sept. 21, from 9 a.m. to noon. The Taneytown library is located at 10 Grand Drive.

West Carroll: Annual golf tourney to benefit Taneytown museum

The Taneytown History Museum will host their sixth annual One Last Round for George Golf Tournament on Friday, Sept. 21, at Quail Valley Golf Course

The Lions Club of Taneytown, in partnership with Healthy Hearing and Balance of Westminster is offering free hearing screenings for adults and children (at least 3 years of age).

The screenings will be performed by Dr. Nancy Hart, audiologist at Healthy Hearing and Balance. No appointment necessary but openings fill up quickly. For more information, contact Barbara at 410-795-3167.

Taneytown Heritage & Museum Association meeting

The Taneytown Heritage & History Museum Association will hold their September meeting on Monday, Sept. 24, at 7 p.m. at the Grace United Church of Christ, Parish Hall, 49 W. Baltimore St.

Guest speaker for the evening will be Paul Faulkner, president of the Western Maryland Railroad Historical Society.

Elaine Hoover, publicity chairwoman for the association said, “[Faulkner] will speak and show a powerpoint presentation detailing the history of the Western Maryland Railroad from the 1800s to when it was bought by [the] Maryland Midland Railroad which has their museum in nearby Union Bridge.”

Taneytown Senior Center to host bus trip

Taneytown Senior Center is hosting a bus trip to Rainbow's Comedy Playhouse in Paradise, Pennsylvania, Saturday, Nov. 17. The bus will leave from the Taneytown Food Lion parking lot at 9:15 a.m. and return at 5:30 p.m. The show is “Christmas in Paradise.”

According to the Playhouse’s website, “A Lancaster County Amish family shares the true meaning of Christmas with some big city visitors who have lost their way.”
