West Carroll: Share your Mayberry memories at annual picnic

It’s time again for the annual Mayberry Day Picnic, set for Sunday, Aug. 26, at 1 p.m. at the Mayberry Mill, 3001 East Mayberry Road.

Bring your favorite side dish to share (salads, vegetable dishes, casseroles) and drinks for your family. Fried chicken will be served at 1:30 p.m. Paper goods will be provided. Please note, drinks will not be provided.


If you have Mayberry photos and memorabilia, bring it along to display. Share your knowledge of the history of Mayberry. History and anecdotes of the A.W. Feeser Farm in Mayberry — home of a World’s Fair prize winning cow — will be shared.

Register now for Taneytown Relay for Life golf tournament

Relay for Life of Taneytown, sponsored in part by Westminster High School Class of 1980, will hold their second annual golf tournament to benefit the American Cancer Society, Friday, Sept. 14, at the Quail Valley Golf Club, 900 Teeter Road, Littlestown, Pennsylvania.

Registration begins at 7 a.m. with shotgun start, Captain’s Choice at 8 a.m. The cost of $80 per golfer includes 18 holes, range balls, coffee and donuts, soda and water, and lunch after golf. Beer will be available for sale on the course for $1.

Contests during the day include hole in one, closest to the cooler, pot of gold, and a putting contest. In addition to raffles and mulligans, prizes will be awarded. Prizes will be presented at the clubhouse at the conclusion of the tournament.

If you aren’t up to golfing, consider sponsoring the event. Sponsorships include hole sponsor: $100, prize sponsor: $150, breakfast sponsor: $200, beer cart sponsor: $350, and lunch sponsor: $500.

New Windsor Fire Company to sponsor Crab Feed

The engine bay of the New Windsor Fire Company is the place to be Saturday, Sept. 15 when the fire company sponsors an all-you-can-eat crab feed from 5 to 8 p.m.

Menu includes steamed crabs, fried chicken, hot dogs, potato salad, corn on the cob, crab soup, beer, soda and more. Tickets are $45 each. Tickets to this event sell out quickly so call Dorothy at 410-775-7402 to purchase tickets. Crabs are supplied by Harris Seafood Company.
