West Carroll: Annual Taneytown Wine, Music & Art Fest slated for June 16

The seventh annual Wine, Music and Art Fest is on tap for Saturday, June 16, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event, hosted by Taneytown Main Street and Taneytown’s Parks and Rec Department, will be held at Memorial Park, off Md. 140 in Taneytown. Admission to the event is free.

The fest will feature fine wine and microbrews from Maryland businesses including Great Shoals Winery, from Silver Spring, Winery at Olney, from Olney, MISCellaneous Distillery, and Il Dolce Winery, from Beltsville. Wine tasting is $10 per person (you must be over 21).

There will be musical entertainment throughout the day. Mr. Charisma and the 4 on the Floor with Overdrive will take the stage at 11:30 a.m. Devon Nickles performs at 2 p.m. Christian Harper Duo will perform at 3 p.m.

Food choices will be provided by Taneytown Lions Club, Coles Concessions, 2 Bold Chefs, Funnel Fare, and Dawg Pound. Stroll through the vendor area where you can peruse the variety of unique art and artisans.

Kids Zone will be on hand again this year with a variety of balloon animals, face-painting and kid-oriented crafts.

Sponsors include Evapco (Platinum), Taneytown Chamber of Commerce (Gold),Carroll County Department of Tourism (Gold), Terry’s Tag and Title (Gold), Taneytown Knights of Columbus (Silver), Silver Oak Academy (Silver), and Carroll Land Service (Silver).

St James Church to host Bag and Basket Bingo

St. James Lutheran Church will hold a Bag and Basket Bingo, Saturday, June 9, at the Union Bridge Community Center, 4770 Ladiesburg Road, Union Bridge. Each baskets or bag will have a retail value between $50 and $250. All baskets are from Longaberger. Bags include Vera Bradley, Dooney & Burke, Michael Korrs, Anne Klein, Toms, Lilly Piltzler and Coach.

The annual Strawberry Festival will be held at St. Luke’s Lutheran (Winter’s) Church, 701 Green Valley Road (Md. 75), New Windsor on Saturday, June 2, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This event raised more than $2,000 for Dream Big Union Bridge, a community organization.

Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door and include 20 games. Extra games, specials, and raffles, can be purchased as well. There is a limited number of tickets so purchase early! Bring canned food item or personal hygiene product to donate to the St James food pantry to secure a free raffle ticket! Affordable Lite Fare will be available for purchase.

Taneytown Heritage and Museum Association to host Hudson Car Show

The Hudson Car Show, hosted by the Taneytown Heritage and Museum Association, will take place at the Taneytown Museum, 340 East Baltimore St., Saturday, June 9, at 10 a.m. A brief history of Hudson Show cars will be on display.

Take a few minutes to step inside the museum to check out their latest display “A Century of Toys 1890-1990,” which will be on display throughout the 2018 season.

The museum’s 2018 hours are: Fridays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m.

Terra Rubra Lions Club breakfast and car show

The Terra Rubra Lions Club will host an all-you-can-eat breakfast on Saturday, June 9, from 7 to 10 a.m. at the Middleburg Softball Park, 6300 Middleburg Road, Keymar. If breakfast is your favorite meal of the day, you can get all the fixings for just $8.

Stick around after breakfast to enjoy a great car show. Classes include 1930s and older, ’40s and ’50s, ’60s and ’70s, ’80s and newer, street rods, trucks, tractors, and motorcycles. If you are interested in showing your vehicle, it’s just $15 to enter the show, and includes a $2 food coupon. Special awards will be given out for Spectator’s Pick, Best Paint, and longest distance traveled. Dash Plaques will be given out to the first 50 entries.

Shrimp platters, sandwiches, strawberries and ice cream, and a variety of homemade food will be available for purchase throughout the day. Vendor spots are $15 and 8-foot tables are available. To reserve your vendor spot, call Sharon 410-984-6109.
