St. Luke’s Lutheran Church will hold a Rogation Sunday Service to honor local farmers April 28 at 10:30 a.m. at the church, 701 Green Valley Road, New Windsor.

The service is a way to acknowledge dependence on local farmers. A potluck celebration will follow the service.

Trevor Hoff, owner of Local Homestead Products in New Windsor, will give a short talk about his farming experiences.

Hoff, who has lived and farmed in Carroll County his entire life, stressed the importance of offering locally grown produce to the community, indicating the current focus of the operation [Local Homestead] is to produce as much local food as possible to sell directly to the community.

“Providing local and fresh food to our community is essential in our farming operation,” he said. “We strive to produce quality food products all while directly connecting our community with agriculture.”

He says he learned dedication and determination from previous generations, but noted that, for him, “Farming is a way of life that I truly love.”

Please note, there will be no Sunday services at 8:30 a.m. or 11 a.m. Canned food donations will be collected to support a local food pantry.
