South Carroll: Celebrate Christmas at the Merry Main Street in Sykesville

Mrs. Claus reads to kids at last year's Merry Main Street event in Dec. 8.

The Green Committee of Downtown Sykesville Connection brings you the Merry Main Street event on Dec. 8, where everyone in the community is welcome to enjoy a program full of arts and crafts, the visit of Mrs. Claus, readings, and more.

Julie Della-Maria, one of the coordinators of this event, stated, in an email interview, that the kids will be able to write a letter to Santa Claus and they will be assisted by elves.

Throughout the event, Della-Maria explained that Ms. Claus will be visiting the event and also, reading stories.

Also, she explained that Donna Nomick will be performing and playing the hammered dulcimer.

Della-Maria stated that there will be other activities throughout the time and that this year Sweet Simplici-Tea will be donating mini cupcakes and toppings for children to decorate their treats and eat or take home.

She explained that there will be dairy and gluten free choices.

Admission to this event is free and it is also brought to you by Assist-2-Sell of Central Maryland.

The event starts at 12 p.m. and ends at 4 p.m. and it will hosted at the Town House of Sykesville located at 7547 Main Street.

Baldwin’s Station presents Toby Walker

This Dec. 6 come to the Baldwin’s Station and enjoy the songwriter and musician, Toby Walker for a night of blues, country, and other musical styles and genres.

Walker has been featured in the most popular and reliable platforms like the New York Times, London BBC, Sirius-XM Radio, and others.

Walker also won first place at International Blues Challenge Award, for the Solo division presented by the Blues Foundation in Memphis, TN.

He embodies many styles of music, such as blues, ragtime, country, bluegrass, rock, and old time jazz, which is something that makes this music unique.

Admission to the concert is $20. The concert starts at 8 p.m.

The Mt. Airy Volunteer Fire Company Train Garden

Come to the annual Mt. Airy Volunteer Fire Company Train Garden open to the public every weekend in December.

It’s a Christmas tradition for the Mount Airy community to have the Train Garden every year at the fire company and they hope that everyone in the community joins them.

The train garden is open from noon until 5 p.m. Also, parking and entry are located in the lower level of the fire station.

The fire department is located at 702 North Main Street, Mount Airy.
