Connla is coming to Sykesville and they will be performing at Baldwin’s Station this Thursday, July 19, when they will be playing their folk/traditional music.
The band hails from the cities of Armagh and Derry, located in Northern Ireland. The band is made up of Ciara McCafferty (vocals), Ciaran Carlin (flute/whistles), Paul Starrett (guitar), Emer Mallon (harp) and Conor Mallon (uilleann pipes/whistles).
According to the Chicago Irish-American News, Connla is considered the “Hottest New Group out of Northern Ireland.”
The band has been gaining fame in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Europe, and the USA because of the unique sound they create in their traditional and modern folk songs and tunes.
Since last year, they have been touring throughout all of these places sharing their music.

Sykesville Cinema presents ‘Moana’
This August 11, the Town of Sykesville invites everyone in the community to come to the Millard Cooper Park to enjoy the famous Disney movie, “Moana.”
The movie is about a girl named Moana, who sails out away from her family to begin a mission to save her people. During her journey, she meets Maui, who helps her overcome many obstacles and achieve her goal.
Each show begins approximately 15 minutes after sundown. People are encouraged to come early to get a good seat and bring their lawn chairs or blankets.
General parking is available at Sykesville Middle School and the Millard Cooper Park includes easy access handicapped parking.
Admission to this event is free; however, the Town of Sykesville will be requesting non-perishable food donations from the attendees for Carroll County Food Sunday. They will have collection bins available at the park.
The event will be hosted at the Millard Cooper Park located at 7282 Cooper Drive, Sykesville.
