The various branches of the Carroll County Public Library will be celebrating the Summer Discovery kickoff on Thursday, June 21, with games, crafts, face painting, and more.
People of all ages are invited to this event and to the Summer Discovery programs. Throughout the program, the participants will be able to join the library during the summer and be part of all of the readings and other activities they will be offering.
This year’s theme is Libraries Rock! and they will be having music-related programs throughout the summer.
The participants in this program will be able to earn points by reading books, completing activities, and submitting written or picture reviews online.
Also, the participants will be able to enter into a raffle to win bi-weekly prizes and they will also be receiving an award for finishing the program.
In addition, all finishing participants are automatically entered in the end of summer prize raffle and the winners will be revealed after Sept. 6.
The Summer Discovery programs will be running through Aug. 25.
The Summer Discovery kickoff will be celebrated in all of the branches on the same date, June 21.

Festival set for Linganore Winecellars, June 23
This June 23, the Linganore Winecellars will be celebrating the Freestate — Beer, Wine, and Seafood Festival with local seafood vendors, brewers, and entertainment.
Throughout the event, they will be having Maryland Craft Brewers and wines from Linganore Winecellars.
They will also have live music and the special appearance from Justin Schlegel from the radio show, Justin, Scott, and Spiegel of 98 Rock.
Also, food vendors will be present that will offer a variety of non-seafood items on their menus.

The tickets include a FreeState Festival souvenir glass for tastings of beer from eleven different breweries, and a variety of wines from Linganore Winecellars.
The event starts at 11 a.m. and ends at 6 p.m. Please remember that pets are not allowed, and also, no open containers or outside alcohol are permitted.
Calvary UMC brings annual vacation Bible school.
Starting this June 24 and ending on June 28, Calvary United Methodist Church will be hosting the vacation Bible school for the kids in the community.
This year, they will have a Shipwreck themed bible school and the bible school is exclusively for elementary school aged children.
The event will start each night at 6 p.m. and it will end at 8 p.m.
