On Saturday, March 16, the South Carroll Instrumental Boosters from South Carroll High School will be hosting their annual SCHS Music Boosters Basket Bingo event to raise funds for musical programs, instruments repairs and other expenses.

Cathy Poland, one of the organizers of this event, said in an email interview that South Carroll Instrumental Boosters has been hosting the bingo for over 10 years.

Poland said the “boosters” encompasses the band, orchestra, and marching band students.

Throughout the event, they will have live music, raffles, and door prizes, she said, as well as special jackpot games and 50-50 raffles.

Some of the prizes will include Longaberger baskets filled with donations worth about $100 each.

Attendees will be able to enjoy light dinner options, snacks, drinks and desserts, she said.

Admission to the event is $20 online or $25 at the door.

“The funds raised are used to purchase needed sheet music, repair instruments, marching band equipment and supplies such as flags, provide students with additional music opportunities and instruction, and fund college scholarships for two deserving seniors in the SCHS music program,” Poland said.

Poland invites everyone in the community to attend this event because it is hosted for the entire family to enjoy and there will be prizes for everyone — men, women, teens and children.

You may purchase your tickets at The event starts at 6:30 p.m. and ends at 10 p.m. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and the games start at 6:30 p.m.

The event will be hosted at South Carroll High School, at 1320 Old Liberty Road in Sykesville.

Eldersburg branch library presents Family Laughter Yoga

This Saturday, March 16, the Eldersburg branch library will host one of its most exciting and relaxing programs, Family Laughter Yoga, where kids and their parents will have the opportunity to relax while having a good time.

Throughout the event, the kids and parents will be able to have an open space where they can freely laugh, be silly and release the splendor of their inner child with their children — who are already masters of laughing for no reason.

The instructor, Bryan Nupp, will be exploring some topics with the attendees, such as happiness, love and laughter through a brief introduction, warmups, laughter games and relaxation.

The event starts at 1 p.m. and it is targeted to kids from 3 to 12 years old, plus their parents.
