The North East Social Action Program (NESAP) is still selling the 2018 Community Discount Cards, at a cost of $5 each. The cards feature discounts to local businesses such as Outlaw BBQ, Dutch Corner, Greenmount Station, Matthews Tire, Spargos, and many more. The card is good through Dec. 1, 2018.

If you’re interested in purchasing a discount card, you may visit the NESAP Thrift Store. For those looking to place a bulk order, call 443-952-0097.

The Giving Tuesday program raised $10,300 in sponsorships and matching donations were $16,520. These funds will go toward the programs of NESAP that help those in crisis.

There was a great turnout in donations for the food pantry that helped NESAP make food sets for Thanksgiving and for Christmas. Currently the pantry is very low, or out, of the following items: paper towels, toilet paper, shampoo, cleaning products, liquid dish detergent, laundry detergent, bars of bath soap, and size 6 baby diapers.

NESAP is working on events and fundraisers for the 2018 year – keep your eyes on my column for more information as it becomes available.

The thrift store is located at 1046 S. Carroll St., Hampstead. Hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, Friday and Saturday; and from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursdays; and closed on Sundays.

Fun at the library

There will be crafts and other activities, as well as a ball that will be held at 1:45 p.m. for those who want to enjoy a song as old as rhyme.

Then, on Saturday, Dec. 30, end the year by getting ready for the new year and Create a 2018 Calendar. The program begins at 1 p.m. and you should call to see if you can still register.

The event is open to those 8 years old and older. A blank calendar will be provided for you to decorate anyway you wish using rubber stampers, stickers, and much more.
